Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Moonday Mag! We truly could not do this without the hard work of our small army of volunteer fabulists.
Our ideal candidates are spooky, weird, English Lit students or professors (but not required!) with mature tastes and voice, who are passionate about finding the best new speculative writing. They love horror, but also mermaids. They are self-motivated. If this sounds like you, please review our current openings below, and details on how to apply.
Reader applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; if you don't hear back right away, we may still reach out to you in the future when our needs have changed. Please note that we don't formally offer an internship, but we're happy to fill that requirement with a volunteer role (if your institution allows).

Fiction/non-fiction reader
Duties: Read 5-6 pieces per month and provide brief feedback
Benefits: Remote, no editing, perfect for voracious readers of all ages
Requirements: Must love both genre and literary fiction and/or non-fiction
Poetry reader
Duties: Read 10 or less poems per month and provide brief feedback
Benefits: Remote, no editing, reading more poetry is good for you
Requirements: Must be able to identify speculative elements in poetry
Book reviewer
Duties: Read and review new and classic speculative novels
Benefits: A permanent and cool platform for your reviews, as in-depth as you'd like
Requirements: Bookish and self-motivated, aware of new releases and buzzy books
Outreach coordinator
Duties: Identify and organize community engagement opportunities, including collabs, grants, advertising, and in-person events
Benefits: Non-profit-adjacent volunteer experience, if we make money you make money
Requirements: Bookish and outgoing, 21+, ideally based in LA
